2009 - 2010
SUMMER BREAK
June 26th to August 30th
Herbert Art
Gallery & Museum, Coventry.
An Inland Adventure - Photographs by Robert Longden
During the late 1940s and early 1950s Robert Longden
produced a remarkable portfolio of high quality black and white
images. These photographs record the working life of the
narrowboat people he encountered at the confluence of the Oxford
and Coventry Canals, Hawkesbury Junction and Sutton Stop. The
exhibition will be supplemented with photographs by Stephen
Pochin, great-grandson of Longden, and an artist and
photographer in his own right. These will convey the changes to
the landscape and usage of the waterways in 2009.
Exhibition organised by Stephen Pochin in collaboration
with the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.
